Because I know the initial release of my novella THE GAUNTLET as one half of BELETH STATION and its subsequent republication a mere month and a half later as a stand-alone novella has possibly been confusing for some readers, I am offering the Kindle version of the new Grindhouse Press edition for 99 cents through July 4. As mentioned in the last issue of the newsletter, this edition includes the never previously published bonus story “The Night People”, which will not be available anywhere else in the near future. Perhaps one day it’ll appear in another short story collection, but I currently have nowhere near enough new short stories to warrant another collection, and that will probably remain the case for quite some time. Get your dirt cheap ebook of THE GAUNTLET at the link below.

I also have a few remaining signed paperback copies of THE GAUNTLET at my online store. As always, those purchasing books can also choose to get personal inscriptions in addition to the signature. Request this via note during the checkout process or by using the contact form if you don’t see the note option. As of this writing, just three copies of THE GAUNTLET remain in stock.

In other news, I have recently finished a brand new novel called KILL THE HUNTER. It’s not an extreme horror novel, but it still features lots of bloody horror and wild action. It’s a vampire novel that reads a bit like a crime novel, a bit like if you mashed up 68 KILL and NEAR DARK. Not exactly like that, because it’s its own thing, but that’ll give you the general gist. It’s fast-paced and, in my opinion, a lot of fun. It’s coming out in October from Grindhouse Press, and you’ll be hearing a lot about it in future editions of DEPRAVITY LANE NEWS.
I’ll close out this newsletter with a movie recommendation. UNWELCOME is now streaming on Shudder. A lot about the first hour unfolds in the manner of many modern horror films, with recovery from trauma as one of its major themes. It has a very measured pace and all the acting is good. There’s a lot of beautiful scenery of the Irish countryside. For a lot of it, it seems to aspire to a classy elevated horror vibe. That’s not always my thing, but I was liking the movie well enough anyway. Then there’s a big tonal shift and the last act of the movie is completely bonkers, crazy, violent, and bloody. That last thirty to forty minutes alone makes this one worth watching, in my opinion. I say check it out, especially if you have a thing for folk horror.
I watched Unwelcome last night. I enjoyed it. I really liked the little people. I think they were created with mostly practical effects. That's probably why they looked so cool.
